Mongolia

It is a project conducted in collaboration with other Italian associations: the Cultural Association Taiganà of La Spezia,  Soyombo of Milan, Mongolia Red Cross and the European Community Association in the capital Ulan Bator, together with the anthropologist David Bellatalla.

We support street children in the capital of Mongolia living in terrible environmental conditions they are called "the children of the manholes." In the district of Chinghiltei in Ulan Bator, the poorest district of the city,  many children (about 1,200 children), to escape the winter’s harsh weather (-35 ° to -45 ° between November and February), live in the city’s manholes where the air is unbreathable. They escape from home because of unbearable situations: drunk and aggressive fathers, single mothers without job…

We have followed the extension of an existing building (dormitory and refectory of the small assistance center of Chinghiltai); It will be used as a multifunctional center to house and provide with food and education at least  50 little girls, otherwise destined for prostitution. The Centre will be an out-and-out "guiding light in the night." There will be also a center for training and job placement for approximately 250 young people with professional workshops in the field of tailoring, bakery,  management and use of small cattle farms aimed at a “job placement” program with micro enterprises.

Thanks to the proceeds from the offerings/sale of the book  "C'è un solo Cielo per tutto il Mondo" by Gabriella Pulga, in collaboration with our partner Maurizio Molan, we sent € 9,500, in addition to € 2,420 used to send a container of humanitarian aid in 2013.
